Day 3 - aka Short and Sleep

Hiya,

Today wins for being the most challenging physical and mental day so far. After having a paleo nightmare last night ( I dreamt I was eating sausages fried in a non paleo batter.... really subconscious? Is that the best you can come up with??? Next month: Surfing with Victoria's Secret models blog)

So... I got up early and had what is becoming my morning tradition so far:

Meal 1: Eggs, Nuts and Fruit:
What: Um... eggs, nuts and fruit!
Verdict: Was hungry; started attacking the food in front of me; realized I forgot to take a photo; made a yolk smily face.

It was a quick meal because I was getting ready to go to..

YOGA!!

It's Sunday morning and I moseyed on down to Sattva Yoga Shala for the full vinyasa class with the energetic, early bird, hawt, fun, gregarious, cool as ice... um.... wicked Terri (not wicked in the Wicked Witch of the West kind of way but wicked in the way one surfer looks at another surfer catch the best wave of the day and says... wi-ckeeed).
Fun fact: Terri happens to be the person I took my first yoga (official) class some near three years ago.
Fun fact #2: Her classes still kick my ass, just like they did some near three years ago.

So I sweat my way through the Ashtanga first series and, after chatting it up with the locals at SYS, start walking home slightly dazed but happy.

... and then this happens:

I see a squirrel eating a muffin!

Now, to anyone living in Montreal, seeing a squirrel eating something isn't much of an event. They are fairly ubiquitous (scrabble!) critters around our city. Normally, I would be like "oh, check out the goofy looking squirrel eating a muffin, wicked.."  but today... today was different. I judged the squirrel. I took one look at him (or her?), shoke my head in a slightly disappointed way thinking "dude, you do not want to be eating that. Grains are bad for you!". And for a moment, I was actually, sincerely thinking this!!  It dawned on me that I was becoming a paleo elitist. Yes, that squirrel may one day pay for his poor eating habits, but it isn't my place to judge him!! To rectify my path, I am updating my:

Powerful Intentions!
- Accept all forms of eating as part of life and be comprehensive with people and critters who do not share your way of being. (This intention is dedicated to goofy looking muffin squirrel, wherever you are, I respect you)

If anyone sees him, please let him know. Unfortunately I did not have my camera when I saw him, but he kind of looked like this:

Goofy Looking Muffin Squirrel Look-Alike
"People gots to eat!!"

This encounter kept me busy for a bit and I didn't realize I was running late for work. Getting home, I went for the fastest thing I could thing off:

Meal 2: The Power Smoothie

What: Banana-Strawberry-Avocado-Celery-Egg delight.
Verdict: Banana beats broccoli in the smoothie world. By far.

So I rushed to work ( got there on time - yess) and this is when the physical/mental weirdness started. I wouldn't say I was tired really, I felt like I could take on the day, but I did feel kind of, well, ill. In retrospect, I think my body was going through one of the phases involved when transitioning to a new fuel. The little sleep I got the previous night and the intense yoga in the morning took a lot of my energy and I felt it! When work came to an end, I couldn't wait to make myself some food!! I was famished!!

Enter.. Meal 3: The Chicken Fajita Salad

What: Fajita mix -Red onions, chicken breast, red peppers, cumin, oregano, olive oil, salt n' pepper. Salad - Romain lettuce, tomatoes, avocado.
Verdict: I was so hungry I had two bowls. Really really tasty.

This food gave me a second life and helped me put in perspective a lesson learned today:

Keep your intentions in sight!

I think this blogging project and setting my self up with.... umm ... how would Charlie Sheen put it... a winning paleo diet became a little too much to handle. So I've decided that, in order to be at peak performance in my daily undertakings and really see what this diet can do for my health, I'll be taking a day off blogging every now and then to get some good shut eye and spend that time elsewhere. I'll still take pics of the meals, but will post them on the day after! It's what needs to be done!
On that note, tomorrow will be my first day off! It's my sister's birthday and there is celebrating (and hockey watching) to be done!
